Linker File for Intel (R) Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013 SP1 for Windows
By K V L.0
Actually, I wanted to test PROTRAX 7.1 software working with Intel (R) Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013(SP1 for Windows). So, I have installed successfully, 30 days evaluation version of Intel (R) Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013. The software is getting compiled, but I am unable to locate the linker file. I tried to search the linker file but its not found in the entire Intel program folder/respective directory. Is linker available with Intel (R) Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013(SP1 for Windows)? If available, then where is its path?
A super fast solution for the intersections of Bezier curves
By hunt_chang4
Happy New Year of 2014 to Eyeryone, Last year I had presented my intersection points solution for Cubic Bezier curves at http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/277687. Now, I like to share the latest news of mine with everyone that I have solved the intersections problem of Quartic Bezier too. Also my solution is ready to be commercialized into an application now; I believe it may influence the future trend of Graphic and CAD design in both 2D and 3D very soon. If you are interested about my work, welcome to visit my site at https://sites.google.com/site/curvesintersection/. Hope you enjoy my show! Hunt Chang
Question on SGX availability
By paradium0
Hello Intel I was wondering if Intel could provide just an approximate time frame on availability of the SGX extensions. Is it slated for the next generation of CPU's or is it further out than that? Or is it even (wishfully) available in the current generation and could be activated via microcode updates or similar (since I read they do have the Intel privacy ID feature which is related to the attestation mechanism used in SGX). Thank you in advance!

bootloader designing
By DIVYESH T.1
Hello,          I have previously written my own basic kernel in my class project. Now I am figuring out how to write a boot loader. I seen examples where boot loaders are written to load the OS from floppies, but floppies are past, and I want to learn how to access USB , and try loading my kernel from USB. I know that Usb architecture is one of the most complex, But I would appreciate if anyone could direct me to a good source/sample code (other than the 600 page of USB 2.0/3.0 specification manual). Also if possible,  it would be great to know how Microsoft boots its kernel (Using ntdlr??).
Is it possible to disable or not use the Last Level Cache in Intel IvyBridge CPU?
By Mike X.0
Hi, I want to do an experiment which test the performance degradation and effect on the scheduling when CPU has no shared Last Level Cache. I was able to "disable" all caches, i.e., not allowing the OS to use the caches.  However, I have to do some experiment when CPU only has the private L1 and L2 cache, and does not use the L3 shared cache.  So my question is: Is it possible to not use the L3 cache but use the L1 and L2 cache for the IvyBridge CPU?  I looked at the Intel Developer Manual. I cannot find any text which confirm if this is possible or not.  Could anyone help me? Thanks,

Working principle of Intel (R) Processor Diagnostic Tool
By Alexey B.0
Hi! My name is Alexey, I'm going to write a term paper on Error reaviling in processor functioning. Could you be so kind to consult me about Intel(R) Processor Diagnostic Tool. I took advantage of the proposed program to test CPU, but for the completion of this work I need to provide technical documentation and and function of software that was used.I would be very grateful, if you could help me in this matter. I was able to find almost all aspects of interest to me, except the principle of operation of the program. I know that Prime95 calculates Mersenne prime numbers and Linpaсk finds the solution of linear equations. I would be very grateful if you would have helped me find how Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool tests the processor.   Thanks, Alexey

High Video Latency using MediaCodec on Moorefield H264 Decoder
By Cameron G.1
This is an already solved problem, but I thought I leave my story here so others won't have to spend as much time debugging as I did. I'm developing a real-time streaming video app and found that I had severe latency problems with the hardware H264 decoder on Baytrail (and other Intel Android devices). My latency was 135 ms on average for my 60 FPS 720p stream. My video stream is H264 high profile and I cannot change that. I found a page which seems to indicate that changing the profile in the SPS to baseline (66) solves the latency issue (even if the stream isn't really baseline).  https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/android-hardware-codec... However, when I do that, my device displays a corrupted green screen instead of the expected video stream. In addition, I also found that my latency was still the same. Then I ended up reading through the libmix AOSP code for the Nexus Player and found another trigger for the "high latency" path - Adaptive playback. In short, set...
HAXM installs on Yosemite, but won't start images (black screen)
By Seth N.8
HAXM 1.1.0 is not loading x86 atom image on fresh Yosemite install (core 2 duo): it goes straight to a black screen. I can run ARM images, but when I try to run an Atom x86 image (android 4.4.2, nexus 5 clone), it goes to a black screen and sits there doing nothing. The emulator output reports "HAX is working and emulator runs in fast virt mode" before going to the black screen emulator window. Never had an older version of HAXM installed, so don't think its the "old haxm verison doesn't work on mavericks/yosemite" problem. Details about my setup: "AVD_for_Nexus_5", Android 4.4.2, Atom x86 Hardware: 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo (Macbook Pro 17, mid2009) Fresh install of Yosemite, no virtualization software installed besides HAXM HAXM 1.1.0 for "10.9 and above" installed, downloaded from Intel's webiste yesterday GPU: have tried both enabled/disabled with no effect: black screen either way Any ideas?
